News Karen Akers, Constantine Germanacos and Darius de Haas Premiere Sing for Your Shakespeare at Westport The world-premiere musical revue Sing for Your Shakespeare, featuring music by Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Frank Loesser and more, begins June 3 at the Westport Country Playhouse.

Directed by Playhouse artistic director Mark Lamos, co-conceived by Wayne Barker (musical director), Lamos and Deborah Grace Winer, Sing for Your Shakespeare is based on a concert originally created for the 92Y's Lyrics & Lyricists series. It runs through June 22.

The cast includes Karen Akers, Britney Coleman, Darius de Haas, Stephen DeRosa, Constantine Germanacos and Laurie Wells.

Featuring choreography by Dan Knechtges, the production team includes Riccardo Hernandez (scenic design), Candice Donnelly (costume design), Robert Wierzel (lighting design) and Domonic Sack (sound design).

Here's how Westport bills the 90-minute evening: "With selections from Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's West Side Story, and Rodgers and Hart's The Boys from Syracuse, as well as numbers by Duke Ellington, Frank Loesser, and others, the production explores how the American Songbook has been inspired for decades by Shakespeare's works."
