Broadway, concert and cabaret singer Karen Mason will open her six-week return engagement at Arci's Place beginning Sept. 6 and running through Oct. 15.
Billed as Mason's only cabaret engagement in New York for this year, the show comprises standards ranging "from Gershwin to Antonio Carlos Jobim."
The recipient of a daytime Emmy, the 1999 Cabaret Convention's "True Cabaret Classic Award" and three MAC Awards among others, Mason made her 1998 Carnegie Hall debut alongside Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops with a show titled "The Broadway Songbook of Karen Mason."
Mason opened Arci's Place in November 1999 and has performed with Rosemary Clooney, Jerry Herman, Kander and Ebb, Liza Minnelli and Luciano Pavorotti. On Broadway, she was seen as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard and this summer played the Rosemary Clooney role in a regional world premiere musical version on Irving Berlin's White Christmas.
Tickets are $30 with a $15 minimum at all performances. Arci's Place is located at 450 Park Avenue South. For reservations call (212) 532 4370. -- By Murdoch McBride
