Would you believe The Beatles and Billy Joel? Baldwin said she wants to challenge and surprise herself by tackling songs she hasn't performed before. Show tune fans can also expect a sprinkling of Yip Harburg and Burton Lane songs, from her "Let's See What Happens" album. Other writers of the Golden Age of Broadway will get a voice, too. Dorothy Fields, Jerome Kern, Frank Loesser and more are also on the songlist.

Baldwin, who is seven months pregnant, told Playbill.com, "The theme of the evening is 'expectations,' and I will talk about my pregnancy, but it won't be the only subject! I'll reflect a little bit on my recent move to Park Slope, Brooklyn, with my husband Graham Rowat, and touch on fears, anxieties and daydreams about the future; dealing with career choices while imagining how a new little person will react to this life, and how we will react to him. And how optimism is a choice — and sometimes a difficult thing to choose."

At the Allen Room, she'll sing "The Story Goes On," the Richard Maltby Jr.-David Shire song about motherhood, from the musical Baby. A nod to Fiddler on the Roof songwriters Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick will prefigure her March 8-12 engagement at Feinstein's at the Loews Regency, where she will appear with lyricist (and occasional composer) Harnick in a show of all-Harnick songs (the gig is called She Loves Him).

Rob Berman (music director of Encores!) is music-directing and doing most of the arranging for the Allen Room show. He's also on piano. Baldwin's old pal from college, Diana Basmajian, is directing and shaping the program with Baldwin.

Baldwin's band includes Steve Kenyon (woodwinds), Jim Hershman (guitar), Clay Ruede (cello), Dick Sarpola (bass) and Rich Rosenzweig (drums). For more information about Lincoln Center's American Songbook series, click here.  For more about Baldwin, visit her wesbsite at kate-baldwin.com
