Performances of Night Season began June 12 with a company that also includes Rosie Benton, David Patrick Kelly, Michael O’Keefe, Kellie Overbie, Ana Reeder and Richard Short. According to production notes, The Night Season "tells the story of a film star on location in Sligo, Ireland who discovers that his lodging during the shoot is at a home with three feisty sisters, a poetry-quoting father and an eccentric grandma who sings show tunes." The work played to packed houses in 2004 at the National Theatre's Cottesloe stage in London.
Katherine Helmond's theatrical credits include: Mixed Emotions; Great God Brown; House of Blue Leaves; Ancestral Voices; Night, Mother; Steel Magnolias; and The Vagina Monologues. However, Helmond may be best known for her roles as Mona on television's "Who's The Boss?" (with Tony Danza) and Jessica Tate on "Soap."
Lonny Price (A Class Act, Master Harold...and the Boys) is currently represented on Broadway with the revival of 110 in the Shade starring Audra McDonald.
Coming up, Bay Street will present a musical world premiere from the creators of The Donkey Show, entitled Turandot: A Rumble for the Ring, which will run July 10–Aug. 5. Official casting has not been announced.
Charles Busch's comedy The Lady In Question closes the season Aug. 14-Sept. 2, starring Charles Busch, Julie Halston, Matt McGrath, Perry Ojeda, Ana Reeder, Barrett Foa, Larry Keith, Matt McGrath, Richard Kind and Kristine Nielsen. Christopher Ashley directs.
