Awards Kathleen Chalfant Will Receive 2018 Obie Award for Lifetime Achievement John Leguizamo will host the annual award ceremony May 21.

Tony nominee and three-time Obie winner Kathleen Chalfant will receive a special Obie Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 63rd Annual Obie Awards, which will be held May 21 at Terminal 5.

As previously announced, Emmy and Obie winner John Leguizamo will host this year’s ceremony, which celebrates Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway.

Chalfant received Tony and Drama Desk nominations for her work in the original Broadway production of Angels In America. In addition to Wit, for which she won the Drama Desk, Obie, Lucille Lortel, and Outer Critics Awards, Chalfant's myriad Off-Broadway credits include For Peter Pan On Her 70th Birthday , Somewhere Fun, Miss Ovington and Dr. Dubois, Red Dog Howls, Deadman's Cell Phone, and Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell.

The Obie judges panel is chaired by Village Voice critic Michael Feingold and includes Entertainment Weekly theatre critic Melissa Rose Bernardo, Obie-winning projection designer Wendall K. Harrington, Broadway News theatre critic Charles Isherwood, Tony-nominated and Obie-winning costume designer Toni-Leslie James, dancer-actor-director Sondra Lee, Tony-nominated and Obie-winning actor Arian Moayed, and Obie-winning actor Ching Valdes-Aran.

The production team for the 2018 Obie Awards includes artistic supervisor J. Jason Daunter, line producer Eric Cornell, musical supervisor P. Jason Yarcho, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Kai Harada, scenic designer Antje Ellermann, and video designer Adam J. Thompson.
