MasterVoices' semi-staged concert version of Victor Herbert’s Babes in Toyland is presented April 27 at 7 PM at Carnegie Hall in the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.

The cast is headed by Tony winner Kelli O'Hara, Tony winner Bill Irwin, Lauren Worsham, Christopher Fitzgerald, Jonathan Freeman, Jeffrey Schecter, Chris Sullivan, Tony winner Blair Brown, On The Town’s Jay Armstrong Johnson, and Michael Kostroff (NBC's The Wire).

The production is conducted by MasterVoices Artistic Director Ted Sperling and also features the MasterVoices chorus, as well as the Orchestra of St. Luke's. Babes in Toyland has a libretto by Glen MacDonough.

Babes in Toyland, which hasn't seen a major revival in New York City in more than 85 years, “tells a story that is both amusing and scary: villainous Uncle Barnaby plots the deaths of his young niece and nephew, Alan and Jane, in order to gain their inheritance. After many twists and turns, the siblings, with the help of several Mother Goose characters, thwart his efforts and bring happiness back to Toyland.” MasterVoices presents the original score in its full orchestration.

A second performance, featuring the same cast, will be presented April 29 at 7 PM at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Long Island. Click here for more information.
