News   Kennedy Center's Page to Stage Festival Launches Sept. 4
The Kennedy Center's Ninth Annual Page to Stage Festival takes place Sept. 4-6 in Washington, D.C. During the festival, free readings and open rehearsals of new plays and musicals being developed in the D.C. area and nationally will take place throughout the center.

On Sept. 6 in the Terrace Theater, The Game's Afoot (Or Holmes for the Holidays), by Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor, Crazy for You), will be presented from 3:30-6 PM. Tony nominee Marc Kudisch and Nancy Robinette will star in the reading of the comedy-thriller, which is described as containing "double-crosses, triple-crosses, gunplay, murder, lies, deceit, disguise, and sex. What do you expect? They’re actors." The reading will be presented as part of the Kennedy Center's Keenan Fellowship Program.

From 7:30-9 PM on Sept. 6, the Terrace Theater will also offer a reading of The Greenwood Tree, in which William Shakespeare's sonnets are set to music by Will Reynolds. In the contemporary story, "a young poet falls victim to Puck's notorious flower and he becomes entangled in a love triangle with his songwriting best friend and a beautiful woman named Sylvia. It is a story about self-discovery; about art and inspiration; about friends and lovers, and the fine line that is often blurred between the two." The reading will be co-presented by Signature Theatre and Folger Theatre.

The Tony-winning Signature Theatre will also present American Voices Musical Voices Project: The Next Generation at Millennium Stage North, Sept. 6 from 6-7 PM. Excerpts from musicals in development at Signature by Matt Conner, Adam Gwon, Marisa Michaelson, Chris Miller and Scott Davenport Richards will be heard.
