Scheduled to be part of the 8:30 PM event are Stockard Channing, Jenn Colella, Suzanne Farrell, Judith Jamison, Patti LaBelle, k.d. lang, Annie Leibovitz, Midori, Julia Murney, Veronika Part, Dianne Reeves, LeAnn Rimes, Chita Rivera, Lily Tomlin, Joan Tower, Vera Wang and Linda Celeste Sims of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The National Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by JoAnn Falletta.
The evening, according to press notes, highlights "the achievements and contributions of women from a wide range of artistic genres. The impressive line-up of women has each advanced the cause of equality for women in the arts, through performances, photography, songwriting, choreography, or advocacy."
Kennedy Center chairman Stephen A. Schwarzman hosts the event along with Kennedy Center president Michael M. Kaiser. President Barack Obama and Mrs. Obama are the Honorary Patrons.
The black-tie evening begins with a reception on the River Terrace at 5 PM followed by dinner on the Roof Terrace level at 6 PM. The Gala performance begins at 8:30 PM in the Concert Hall. The evening concludes with 'Til Midnight, a cocktails and dancing party, in the Roof Terrace Restaurant.
The Spring Gala provides funding to support the Center's performances, education and outreach initiatives.
