COSTA MESA, CA -- Kenneth Lonergan's The Lobby, a new play about two people who become embroiled in a murder case, will be read on South Coast Repertory's mainstage Feb. 8 at 7.30 PM.

The Lobby is the third reading in SCR's 1998-99 NewSCRipts Series. Lonergan, who is represented off-Broadway by the acclaimed play This Is Our Youth, will direct the reading.

The story involves a female police officer and a male security guard, each new on the job, who become enmeshed in the ongoing investigation of a murder.

NewSCRipts is a viewing window into SCR's Collaboration Laboratory for new play development. Over the years 65 plays have been presented, many of them commissioned by SCR.

The remaining dates of the series are April 26 and a fifth date to be announced during the Pacific Playwrights Festival in June. Single tickets are available for $8 by calling the SCR box office at (714) 708-5555. Tickets will be available at the door.
