She'll play Mabel Cantwell. Butler earned a 2008 Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for playing Kira/Clio in Xanadu.
The drama about a presidential election will begin rehearsals on Jan. 30 toward a first preview performance on March 6. Opening night is April 1 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 W. 45th Street).
John Gromada will compose music for the revival directed by Michael Wilson (Dividing the Estate, The Orphans' Home Cycle), which stars two-time Tony Award winner James Earl Jones, Tony and Emmy Award winner John Larroquette, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Candice Bergen, Emmy Award winner Eric McCormack, Tony Award winner Jefferson Mays, Drama Desk Award winner Michael McKean and five-time Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury.
