News 'Kids' Week at the Theatre' Commences in Cali Feb. 15 The second annual "Kid's Week at the Theatre" will be held Feb. 15-21. It introduces young people to the theatre -- for free. Sponsored by Theatre L.A. and A.S.K. Theatre Projects, the promotion offers one or two free tickets for children under 18 with the purchase of an adult ticket; free backstage tours for families; free open rehearsals and/or free hands-on-workshops.

The second annual "Kid's Week at the Theatre" will be held Feb. 15-21. It introduces young people to the theatre -- for free. Sponsored by Theatre L.A. and A.S.K. Theatre Projects, the promotion offers one or two free tickets for children under 18 with the purchase of an adult ticket; free backstage tours for families; free open rehearsals and/or free hands-on-workshops.

Over 30 theatres are participating, many with more than one presentation. Other project supporters include KCRW 89.9FM, Mervyn's California and TCI National Digital Television Center. Culture Clash and Carol Burnett are "Kid's Week at the Theatre" celebrity spokespersons.

A sampling of events includes a music and clowning workshop held by members of Circle X and Open Fist Theatre Company; Little Red Riding Hood at the Santa Monica Playhouse; a performance of Titanic at the Ahmanson Theatre; a preview of Broadway at the Actors' Gang; and a rehearsal (in English) of Guantanamerica by Juan Carlos Tabio, Tomas Gutierrez and Luchi Diego at the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts.
