News Kirsten Holly Smith Is Dusty Springfield in Stay Forever Beginning Feb. 7 The songs of the late British singer Dusty Springfield are featured in Stay Forever: The Life and Music of Dusty Springfield, which plays the Renberg Theatre in Los Angeles Feb. 7-23.

Singer-actress Kirsten Holly Smith, who penned the new work with Patricia Cotter, also portrays Springfield in Stay Forever, which features a mix of songs and monologues. Derick LaSalla directs.

Stay Forever, according to press notes, "explores Dusty's rise from misfit schoolgirl to international star, her decline in the 1970s followed by a spectacular comeback, and her final battle with breast cancer, all set against a rich backdrop of the era's social and racial conflicts." Thirteen Springfield classics are heard in the show, including "Son of a Preacher Man," "Wishing and Hoping" and "Stay Forever."

Producers are Jorja Fox, Leslie Brockett (Bunnyhop Productions) and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center.

Show times are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 7 PM.
