Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver, Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley will star in a one-night benefit performance entitled Shakespearean Love, at the New Victory Theatre. Proceeds for the event will go towards The New 42nd Street Inc. whose Chairman, Marian Sulzberger Heiskell, will be the honoree of the April 6 event. Through excerpts from Shakespeare's plays and sonnets, Kline and Weaver have weaved together a narrative love story -- taking one couple from young love to the camaraderie of old age. Mazzie (Ragtime, Passion) and Danieley (Candide) will sing songs from musicals based on Shakespeare's cannon. Bill Irwin (Fool Moon) will host the one-night only event.

The New 42nd Street was established in 1990 to breathe new life into the block's historic theatres. In December 1995, the group scored its first major coup in the re-opening of The New Victory Theatre as a legit theatre space. In October of 1998, plans were unveiled for a new 10-story rehearsal space, offices and a black box theatre named "The Duke on 42nd Street". The New 42nd hopes to open the new spaces by the spring of 2000.

For tickets ($1,000 & $1,500) for the event, call (212) 564-4222.
