The Way of the World is part of the second season of The Women’s Voices Theater Festival highlighting new works by female artists. The play is set to run January 9–February 11, 2018.

In Rebeck’s Hamptons-set comedy, heiress Mae and her aunt Rene become the subject of a scandal sparked by Mae’s womanizing boyfriend Henry. The play is adapted from William Congreve’s Restoration comedy of the same name, with Nielsen tapped to play the ever-watchful Rene.

The Way of the World will also star Eliza Huberth as Mae and Luigi Sottile as Henry. Rounding out the cast are Brandon Espinoza, Elan Zafir, Erica Dorfler, Ashley Austin Morris, and Daniel Morgan Shelley.

The creative team is made up of Tony Award winners Linda Cho (costume design) and Donald Holder (lighting design), Tony nominee Alexander Dodge (scenic design), and M.L. Dogg (sound design).

The Way of the World had its premiere at the Dorset Theatre Festival in Vermont in 2016.
