They've both been Wildhorn leading men, and now they're returning to the composer's music in a one night concert Aug. 10 at the Nyack Seaport Cultural Center in Upstate New York. Marc Kudisch (The Scarlet Pimpernel) and Michael Lanning (The Civil War) lead an evening dedicated to the creator of the three Broadway musicals in which each starred.
Kudisch most recently appeared on Broadway in The Wild Party, but has credits including Beauty and the Beast, High Society and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He will star in the upcoming Thoroughly Modern Millie. Singer-songwriter Lanning made his Broadway debut in The Civil War, a piece he later traveled with on the road.
Joining them will be Brad Little, Rita Harvey (The Phantom of the Opera), Jodie Langel, Alex Santoriello (Les Miserables, Cats), Nathan Lee Graham (The Wild Party), Angela Covington (Evita) and Rebecca Snow (The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber).
Of Wildhorn's triple threat a year ago, only Jekyll & Hyde continues to run on Broadway. Pimpernel is still traveling the country with The Civil War to start up the second leg of its tour in 2001. The composer currently has two projects in the works, Havana and a series of mini-musicals titled The Romantics. He is also producing a Christmas album with his wife Linda Eder. Some of the songs from her albums not featured in Wildhorn shows will be featured in the concert.
Tickets are $35. The Nyack Seaport Cultural Center is located at 21 Burd Street. For tickets, call (914) 353-3200. *
Rob Evan, former star of Jekyll & Hyde, had originally been announced for this concert, but was unable to perform due to scheduling conflicts.
