The actor's agent confirmed to Playbill On-Line that Kuhn will play the immigrant who was later put to death in the electric chair. Raul Esparza (Taboo) was previously attached to the role when the production was set for a 2001 Broadway opening. That production was canceled in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Kuhn, an ensemble member in Ragtime, appeared in the Playwrights Horizons reunion concert of Floyd Collins. The Canadian actor has performed as Zazu in The Lion King at Toronto and Cousin Kevin in Tommy (Canadian tour) as well as Love's Labour's Lost, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Antony and Cleopatra, The Illusion, Timon of Athens, Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, The Tempest and Nothing Sacred.

Assassins, which debuted at Playwrights Horizons in 1990, centers on nine presidential assassins and would-be assassins. Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Wicked, Take Me Out ) will direct. Paul Gemignani (Into The Woods, Kiss Me, Kate) will serve as musical director.

Beginning previews March 19, 2004, the long-awaited staging will open at Roundabout's new musical home Studio 54, April 22, 2004. This production will mark the musical's Broadway premiere.

Neil Patrick Harris will lead the cast as John F. Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and Balladeer. Playbill On-Line previously reported actor-comedian Mario Cantone (The Violet Hour) is set to star as Samuel Byck, James Barbour (Jane Eyre) as Leon Czolgosz, Alexander Gemignani as John Hinckley, Marc Kudisch (Thoroughly Modern Millie) as the Proprietor and Michael Cerveris (Tommy) is slated to play John Wilkes Booth. Denis O'Hare (Take Me Out), Becky Ann Baker and Mary Catherine Garrison — who were also slated to star in the 2001 Broadway revival — are also expected to join the cast.

Tickets will be made available Feb. 23, 2004 through (212) 719-1300 or online at www.roundabouttheatre.org. The Studio 54 box office will open for Assassins March 5, 2004.
