News Kunze, Foreman, Ashworth, Kellum and Tower Set for CLOSBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Eric Kunze will star in the title role of the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar, which begins performances April 22 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center.

Directed by Stephanie A. Coltrin, the production will play the California venue through May 10. The cast also includes Jody Ashworth as Caiaphas, Kevin Bailey as Pilate, Karole Foreman as Mary, Ron Kellum as Peter, Robert Sean Thompson as Annas, Josh Tower as Judas, Jason Webb as Simon and Harrison White as Herod.

The ensemble comprises Dave Barrus, Dane Biren, Jennifer Brasuell, Leland Burnett, Callie Carson, Jason DeRoest, Janelle Dote, Jasmine Ejan, Jessica Gisin, Juan Guillen, Kasi Jones, Melissa Rose LeGaspi, Jeremiah Lowder, Raymond Matsamura, Melissa Mitchell, Mike A. Motroni, Tommy Stefanek, Kelby Thwaits, Nicole Tillman, Michael J. Willet and Karl Warden.

Jesus Christ Superstar, with a score by Lloyd Webber (music) and Rice (lyrics), debuted on Broadway in 1971. The musical dramatizes "the excitement caused by [Jesus'] message, his betrayal, his trial before Pontius Pilate, and his ultimate sacrifice." Superstar features such songs as "Everything's Alright," "I Don't Know How to Love Him," "Gesthemane" and the title tune.

The creative team also includes set designer Christopher Beyries, musical director Alby Potts, choreographer Marc Oka, lighting designer Darrell Clark and sound designer John Feinstein.
