The recording — based on the concert of the same name that was conceived, written and directed by Marcovicci (and presented as part of the 92nd Street Y's "Lyrics & Lyricists" series) — features the vocal talents of Marcovicci as well as Anna Bergman, Barbara Brussell, Mark Coffin, Chuck Cooper, Jeff Harnar and Maude Maggart. The disc includes tunes Weill penned with Maxwell Anderson, Ira Gershwin, Oscar Hammerstein, Langston Hughes, Alan Jay Lerner, Ogden Nash, Paul Green and Ann Ronell. Titles include well-known Weill songs —"Speak Low," "My Ship" and "September Song" — as well as lesser-known works from Firebrand of Florence, The Lunchtime Follies and Huckleberry Finn. There is also a tune that was cut from the 1938 Henry Fonda film "Blockade."

The CD — produced by Marcovicci and her musical director Shelly Markham — also features a 48-page booklet with complete lyrics, color photos and in-depth liner notes. Frank Skillern is the disc's executive producer.
