News Kushner, Miller and Brando Honored Nov. 8; LuPone, McDonald and Reinking Perform The late actor, director and teacher Stella Adler will be celebrated Nov. 8 in Stella By Starlight, a gale fete and awards ceremony in the Pierre Hotel's Grand Ball Room.

The evening will include the presentation of the 2004 Stella Adler School of Acting Awards as well as a specially created "Salute to Musical Theatre." The salute, conceived by Gordon Hunt and Roy Scheider, will feature a host of stage stars, including Tony Award winners Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald and Ann Reinking. Hunt will direct the musical celebration. Awards will be presented to playwrights Tony Kushner and Arthur Miller and, posthumously, to actor Marlon Brando. Mike Nichols will present Kushner with The Jacob Adler Award for "courageous contributions to Jewish and American culture"; Zoe Caldwell will present Miller with The Group Theater Award for "prolific achievement in theatre, film, television arts and for community and social commitment"; and Warren Beatty will accept Brando's Stella Adler Award — presented by Al Pacino — for "consummate artistic achievement and interpretation."

Stella By Starlight is set to begin with cocktails at 6:30 PM, followed by the "Salute to Musical Theatre." Dinner is scheduled for 8 PM with the award presentations and special tributes at 9:15 PM.

Individual tickets to the one-night-only event are priced at $1,000. Tables of ten range from $5,000-$25,000; call Scott Perrin at (212) 838-2660, ext. 22.
