La Manajata Bequixed, Carlos Jerome's new play involving psychology and one of the classic fantasies, "Don Quixote," will play Theater at 64 East Fourth Street Oct. 27-Nov. 14.

Gloria Zelaya will direct the play, whose title translates as Manhattan Bewitched. The cast will include Illiam Carrillo, Xiomara Cintron, R. Dario Cruz, Phillip Filiato, Stephanie Garay, Sam Gordon, Daisy Guevara, Jeffrey Hernandez, Thomas Eddy Moran, Barry Sacker, Maria Teresa Silva and Thais Walsh. The design team will feature Alex Moore (lighting design and management), Kacie Hultgren (set design), Alfredo Marin (sound design and management).

The work takes place on the abandoned piers of Hoboken and is inspired by the writings of Whitman, Cervantes and Julia de Burgos. It's billed as "a partially surreal tale involving the decision a psychologist must make about whether or not to join a workers' strike at the New York hospital that employs her." With her best friend "and their semi-real love interests/mentors, Don Quick and Sancho, who respectively appear as a wandering professor and a Union organizer, she confronts questions of meaning and direction in her life."
