The limited engagement, which will be recorded for broadcast on satellite and public radio, runs June 18-22 at The Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. Michael Hackett will direct Williams' Mississippi-set romantic drama that pits the spiritual against the sexual. Included in the cast are David Selby (The Heiress), Armin Shimerman (I Remember Mama), Gabriel Olds (A View from the Bridge), Anne Gee Byrd, Kitty Swink and Tina Sanchez.
Amanda Plummer, who appeared in the 2007 Paper Mill Playhouse mounting of Summer and Smoke, was originally scheduled to appear as Alma for the L.A. Theatre Works run. A replacement for Plummer has yet to be cast.
