Guirgis, whose Tony-nominated play The Motherf**ker with the Hat debuted on Broadway this season, serves as co-artistic director of the LAByrinth alongside Motherf**ker cast member Yul Vázquez and Mimi O’Donnell.

For its 20th season the LAByrinth will debut three new world-premiere works at the Bank Street Theater (formerly the Cherry Pit), which will serve as its home for upcoming year of programming.

This fall the LAByrinth will stage David Bar Katz's The Atmosphere of Memory. According to the LAB, "Playwright Jon Stone has found the courage to write a masterpiece: a play about his upbringing. The plot thickens when his actual mother is cast to play his mother and his estranged father remembers their history differently. Jon is forced to rewrite not only his play, but his past as well. Through hilarious and heartbreaking twists, playwright Katz turns Williams and O'Neill on their heads by imagining a world where the boundaries between life/art, and fact/fiction, are as blurry as The Atmosphere of Memory itself."

Following will be Frequently UnAnswered Questions, a new play with music, written and performed by Rent, Jack Goes Boating and Anna in the Tropics star Rubin-Vega. It is described as "a musical odyssey about the consequences of a mother's choice and the bond of a family separated not only by the gulf of the Caribbean but an even wider gulf - unspoken love, loss and longing - and what it's like to be the last one standing."

In spring 2012 the LAB will offer Ninth and Joanie, a new drama by Brett C. Leonard. "Philadelphia. Ninth Street. 1986. An Italian-American family gathers to mourn a departed matriarch. Old questions of loyalty and legacy, love and loss, cast a shadow across three generations as they are forced to confront a violent past and an uncertain future in this provocative, powerful world premiere," according to the LAB. Season programming also includes a developmental workshop of a new play by Guirgis, whose works also include Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, Little Flower of East Orange and Our Lady of 121 Street. The company will also continue with its free play reading offerings, the Barn Series.
