When the New York Theatre world last heard from "F-Troop's" Larry Storch, he had a featured role in the Off-Broadway comedy, Breaking Legs. But now the actor has embarked upon a new musical by a new theatre company -- featuring some established names in the biz.

Adventure!, by Sherman Yellen (book), Will Holt (lyrics) and Gary William Friedman (music) will have a two-week workshop at the Seat Producers Club Theatre, June 2-14. True to the new company's name, "Book In Hand," Adventure! will be staged with scripts in hand and minimal lighting, sets and props. That should be interesting indeed, since the musical adapts Rober Stevenson's prop and costume-filled story, Treasure Island.

Storch plays Bones, the old sailor who comes back with the map. "He dies but he has a great song, `Horrors!,' to sing before he does," says production spokesperson Jan Morgan. Storch also plays old pirate Ben Gunn. Neal Binari plays Long John Silver.

Lyricist Holt, who serves as artistic director of Book In Hand, and librettist Yellen have also penned the Broadway-bound musical, The Jazz Singer. Friedman is best known for The Me Nobody Knows and also composed 1994's Bring In The Morning and the 1996 Jewish Rep musical, Sheba.

According to spokesperson Morgan, Book In Hand became an entity in early January, though discussions had been underway for two years. "Very often there are wonderful shows out there that never have a chance to be put on. We want to do shows that have a possibility of moving on, either to regional theatre or Broadway. We hope to do two or three of these next year. The authors see the piece mounted and can invite producers and backers. We get a small percentage from the authors if the show moves on to the next level. We hope to have a repertory company at some point, too."
