LOS ANGELES -- Inspecting Carol, Daniel Sullivan's comic take on the uncomfortable relationship between the National Endowment for the Arts and the not-for-profit theatre companies who face financial ruin without government grants, will play the holiday season at Actor's Alley at the El Portal. Sullivan wrote Inspecting Carol when he was artistic director of the Seattle Rep. It is an amalgam of two classics: Gogol's The Inspector General and Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Stan Roth directs. The show opens Nov. 6 and runs through Dec. 20. An Equity Fights AIDS benefit will be held on Dec. 3; a donation of $5 or more is requested. Actors Alley is at 5269 Lankershim Blvd. Call (818) 508-4200.
