Cleveland's Public Theatre concludes its production of William Shakespeare's dark comedy Measure for Measure Aug. 28, outdoors at the Cuyahoga County Archives. Timothy Saukiavicus directs.

Written in 1603, Measure for Measure deals with power, sex and political corruption as a public official attempts to seduce a nun in exchange for the life of her brother. Starring in this Measure are Sean Booker, Ted Burr, Allan Byrne, Leonard Goff, Tina Guster, Dana Hart, Sarah Kaminski, Christine McBurney, Rasheryl McCreary, David Samuels, Greg Willey, Jon Jon Adams, Maria Anderson, Tanya Duus and Chas Jones.

Designing the show are David Ellison (set), Robert Stegmiller (lighting and sound) and Daniel C. Allen (costumes)

€ Nov. 18-Dec. 11, Jose Rivera's Marisol -- the story of a young Puerto Rican woman who is warned by an angel that the angels are going to battle God for the fate of the world -- will be directed by Jairo Cuesta of the New World Performance Laboratory.

€ The 19th Annual New Plays Festival will run Jan.-March, 2000, with winning plays to be chosen in the fall.

€ The Los Angeles-based ensemble, The Hittie Empire, will examine black male identity in contemporary America with The Anatomy of Blue, Feb. 3-6, 2000.

€ Christopher Johnston's Sexually Explicit Material, based on interviews in the Cleveland community about sex, will play in March, 2000.

€ Thorton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth, where the Antrobus family and their maid Sabina, take a trip through time, runs March 30 April 15, 2000. Raymond Bobgan directs.

Thrillsville, the story of Peter and Tilda and the quest for the world's scariest roller coaster, runs May 4-27, 2000. Randy Rollison directs the world premiere of this Sarah Morton play.
