Smile You're Traveling will be traveling on. Rocker and raconteur Henry Rollins closes his evening of storytelling at New York City's Westbeth Theatre, Dec. 12. Performances began Dec. 7.

In an official release, Rollins sets up his piece, consisting of musings on everything from World War II to his first nude scene. "I enjoy being on stage without a band, telling stories and railing off the top of my head. To me it's like being in a jazz band without the band. It's like a long version of 'A Night in Tunisia.'"

Rollins is certainly comfortable with the spoken, as well as sung, word. Hitting clubs, theatres and universities with various performance pieces since 1983, he won a Grammy for his spoken word skills with "Get In The Van: On The Road With Black Flag." Other spoken releases include "Big Ugly Mouth," "Sweatbox" and "Human Butt." He has made film appearances in David Lynch's "Lost Highway," "Johnny Mnemonic" and "Jack Frost."

The Rollins Band's most recent release was 1997's "Come In And Burn." Other albums are "The End of Silence" and "Do It" with special appearances on the soundtracks to "The Crow," "Pump Up The Volume" and "Spawn."

Tickets are $25-$30 and available through Ticketmaster at (212) 307 4100 or at the Westbeth Theatre Center Box Office. -- By Christine Ehren
