The critically-acclaimed play Three Tall Women ends its first Philadelphia staging, April 25, at Walnut Street Theatre. Previews began March 9 for a March 17 opening of this Pulitzer Prize winner.

Three Tall Women , by Edward Albee, consists of three women A, B & C sharing in the reminiscences of A's life. A tells of the struggles and happiness that have spanned her 92 years.

The cast includes M'el [sic] Dowd, Alice White, Grace Gonglewski and Jeffrey Coon as A's son. Both Dowd and White are new to Walnut Street but have had extensive roles on Broadway and off-Broadway. Gonglewski was recently featured in Walnut's production of The Rivals , and she won the 1995 F. Otto Haas Award for Emerging Theatre artist. Coon has appeared in Walnut's Anything Goes and has received Barrymore Award nominations for his lead roles in Merrily We Roll Along and Falsettos .

Malcolm Black, director, has worked on numerous Walnut productions including Philadelphia, Here I Come!, and Faith Healer.

Three Tall Women won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize in addition to New York Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, and London's Evening Standards awards for Best Play. Albee has said "I am always astonished by the response to this play, to the amount of enthusiasm for it." Previews for Three Tall Women began March 9.
