LOS ANGELES -- Last Chance to catch the East West Players mounting of the West Coast premiere of Carry The Tiger to the Mountain, written by Cherylene Lee. The play opened Feb. 24 at the David Henry Hwang Theatre at the Union Center for the Arts and runs through March 14, directed by Tim Dang.
It deals with the true story of Lily Chin, a postwar picture bride who became a civil rights activist following the beating death of her son, Vincent Chin, at the hands of two Detroit auto workers in 1982.
The cast includes (in alphabetical order) Kandace Cline, Richard Gallegos, Robert Greenberg, Steve Humphreys, Reggie Lee, Cindy Lu, Benjamin Lu, Matt K. Miller, Kim Montelibano, Beulah Quo and Barry Sigismondi.
Tai chi and Chinese opera choreography are by Peter Kwong, set design by Esther Urusaga Jr., costume design by Dori Quan, lighting design by Jose Lopez, sound and slide design by Miles Ono. Ricardo Figueroa is the production stage manager.
