Sweeney Todd (West End at the Adelphi Theatre). Jonathan Kent's critically acclaimed London revival of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd stars Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton. The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess (Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre). The Tony Award-winning revival of Porgy and Bess features a cast led by five-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and Tony nominee Norm Lewis. The production has music by George Gershwin, lyrics by his brother Ira and a book and lyrics by DuBose Heyward. It is based on the play Porgy, by DuBose and Dorothy Heyward. Tony-nominated Hair director Diane Paulus staged the streamlined production, cut down from its original four-hour running time, to two-and-a-half hours. The Train Driver (Off-Broadway at Signature Theatre Company's Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre). The New York City premiere of The Train Driver, written and directed by Athol Fugard, features Leon Addison Brown as Simon and Ritchie Coster as Roelf. According to Signature, "After a fruitless journey through shanty towns, [Roelf] encounters an old gravedigger named Simon who helps the desperate man unburden his conscience.
