The Few (Off-Broadway at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater). The New York premiere of The Few by award-winning playwright Samuel D. Hunter is directed by Davis McCallum, and the cast comprises Gideon Glick, Michael Laurence and Tasha Lawrence. Here's how the production is billed: "Four years ago Bryan abandoned his labor of love, a newspaper for truckers. Now he’s returned — with no word of where he’s been — and things have changed. His former lover is filled with rage, his new coworker is filled with incessant adoration, and his paper is filled with personal ads. Mothers and Sons (Broadway at the John Golden Theatre). Mothers and Sons, which received two 2014 Tony Award nominations, marks Terrence McNally's 20th Broadway show and 50th year on Broadway and is directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller. Tony and six-time Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly, Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller, Tony Award nominee Bobby Steggert and Grayson Taylor star. Mothers and Sons, according to press notes, "is a timely and provocative new play that explores our evolving understanding of family in today's world. At turns funny and powerful, Mothers and Sons follows a woman (Daly) who pays an unexpected visit to the New York apartment of her late son's ex-partner (Weller), who is now married to another man (Steggert) and has a young son. Too Much Sun (Off-Broadway at The Vineyard Theatre). The world-premiere production of Nicky Silver's Too Much Sun, starring Tony Award winner Linda Lavin and Tony nominee Jennifer Westfeldt, is directed by Mark Brokaw. "In Too Much Sun, Ms. Lavin portrays Audrey Langham, a celebrated actress who unravels completely while preparing for a new production of Medea," press notes state. "With nowhere else to go, she descends upon her married daughter for a summer by the sea. She is not, however, greeted with confetti and champagne.
