Tony winner Laura Benanti announced via Twitter that she and her husband, Patrick Brown, are expecting.

Brown and Benanti were married November 15, 2015, in a ceremony at Harlem’s Riverside Church. This little one (#BabyGirlBrown) will be the couple’s first child together.

In September 2015, Benanti shared with the media that she had suffered a miscarriage, in hopes of shattering the taboo around the unspoken, but sadly common, women’s health issue. (First trimester miscarriages occur in approximately ten to 15 percent of pregnancies and as many as half of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, according to the March of Dimes.)

This morning’s announcement, no doubt, comes as happy news.

Benanti was most recently seen in the 2016 revival of Roundabout Theatre Company’s She Loves Me, for which she earned her fifth Tony nomination. Known for her roles in Swing!, Into the Woods, Gypsy and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Benanti has also worked in television, performing as country singer Sadie Stone on Nashville and Alura Zor-El/Astra on Supergirl (which also stars Broadway favorite Jeremy Jordan). Previously, she took on the role of Baroness Elsa Schraeder in the live television musical The Sound of Music Live!

In May, Broadway notables gathered at Feinstein’s/54 Below for the concert We Love Her, a Celebration of Laura Benanti.

The star is also known for her comedy, most recently seen in a sketch on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert impersonating Melania Trump. She’s also reportedly working on a comedic book of essays, I Stole Your Boyfriend And Other Monstrous Acts On My Way To Becoming A Human Woman.
