News Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Go Beyond Broadway Aug. 17-28
Husband-and-wife actor-singers Alan Campbell and Lauren Kennedy will perform in concert at the Kennedy Theatre in Raleigh, NC.

From Aug. 17-28, the two performers will present Beyond Broadway: An Evening of Song with Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell, which concludes the theatre's "Hot Summer Nights" series. The evening will feature solos and duets and music from the worlds of rock-and-roll, swing and Broadway. In a statement, Campbell said, "This has been in development for quite some time after we were approached about us doing something together by several promoters and producers in and around the Broadway community. Everything is fairly new to us, so it should be a fun and challenging beginning to what we hope will be a show we can refine and continue to perform around the country."

The arranger and musical director for the concerts is Kelsey Halbert, who will be featured on piano. The six-piece band also includes Damon Brown (bass), Carlton Miles (drums), Steve Rose(woodwinds), Michael Mole (trumpet) and Mike Kris (trombone).

Alan Campbell, most recently on Broadway in the Tony-winning dance musical Contact, portrayed Joe Gillis in the Los Angeles and Broadway productions of Sunset Boulevard, earning a Tony nomination for his work in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Campbell has been seen Off Broadway in Avow and Boogie Woogie, and his screen credits include "Jake and the Fatman," "Three's a Crowd," "Another World," "Matlock" and "Homicide."

Lauren Kennedy covered the role of Daisy Hilton in the Broadway production of Side Show and also appeared in the New York companies of Sunset Boulevard and Les Misérables. She starred in The Rhythm Club and was also a part of the early incarnations of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years, playing the role that would be played Off-Broadway by Sherie Rene Scott, when Kennedy crossed the Atlantic to star in the National Theatre's revival of South Pacific. Kennedy also appeared in The Ten Commandments: The Spectacle Musical, and her debut solo CD is titled "The Songs of Jason Robert Brown."

Beyond Broadway will play Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. The Kennedy Theatre is located within the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are available by calling (919) 834 4000 or by visiting For more information log on to
