PlayBlog Laurents Says London Gypsy, with LuPone, Is a Possibility In an interview with Out Magazine, Tony-winning director and librettist Arthur Laurents said there is interest in mounting a London revival of Gypsy with Tony winner Patti LuPone.

LuPone, of course, starred in the most recent Broadway revival of that classic Stephen Sondheim-Jule Styne-Laurents musical, earning a Tony Award for her performance.

"They want to do Gypsy in London," Laurents told Out. "They only want Patti and me...How many times can you do it? I don’t know. She wants to. And if I did, it would be for her. I can say I’m going to live forever. But if I do Gypsy again, it might cut that short."

Out also asked Laurents to choose his favorite Rose from those he directed (Angela Lansbury, Tyne Daly and Patti LuPone)  "Patti," Laurents answered. "I shouldn’t have said I like Patti best because they’ll get pissed off. But I do."
