News Laurie Beechman Theatre Premieres New Musical Revue, From Where I Stand The West Bank Café’s Laurie Beechman Theatre will host the premiere of a new musical revue, From Where I Stand, March 22-April 8.

Featuring book, music and lyrics by Albert M. Tapper, From Where I Stand concerns a veteran bartender at the Carlyle Hotel’s Bemelman’s Bar who encounters an eclectic array of New Yorkers, including “neurotic barflies, frustrated renters, Sondheim haters and Sinatra fanatics, ex-con executives, thwarted lovers and even a surprise celebrity or two.” The cast includes Smokey Joe’s Cafe’s Kim Cea, Morton Allen David, Brian Kuchta, The Water Cooler’s Adam Mastrelli and Debra Pitkin. Comedian and cabaret veteran Jamie deRoy is producing the six- performance run, which begins March 22 and also plays April 4, 5, 11, 12 and 18. All performances are held at 8:30 PM. The creative team comprises Edie Cowan (production supervision), Lanny Meyers (musical direction), Edward Gianfrancesco (set design) and Mason Swearingen (technical direction).

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within the West Bank Café at 407 West 42nd Street. Tickets, priced at $20 ($10 for MAC members), are available by calling (212) 695-6909. There is a one-drink minimum in addition to the cover charge.
