If kids of the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s had Raffi, kids of the 21st century have Laurie Berkner. Hailed by The New York Times as “the Adele of the preschool crowd,” Berkner expands beyond her usual stroller-pushing audience for a bit of an older crowd—if still geared towards families.

Berkner has written original songs for the upcoming original musical Insterstellar Cinderella, presented by New York City Children’s Theatre. The production will open November 18 at the Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row. Berkner says she’s excited to, once again, stretch her muscles and write for the theatre in her third time working with NYCCT.

Interstellar Cinderella has a book written by Barbara Zinn Krieger and is directed by Marty Johnson.
