News LCT Postpones Women on the Verge Chat as Musical Readies for Broadway Opening Lincoln Center Theater has postponed its Oct. 28 Platform Series discussion with the creative team of the world premiere musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.

The free 6 PM event, scheduled to take place in the lobby of the Vivian Beaumont Theater, was to feature Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher and Tony nominees David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane. It will be rescheduled at a later date to be announced, according to LCT.

Women on the Verge will officially open Nov. 4 at the Belasco Theatre. The new musical, based on the Pedro Almodóvar's Academy Award-nominated 1988 film, began Broadway previews Oct. 8. The creative team delayed the start of performances from Oct. 2 in order to allow additional technical rehearsals.

The starry cast includes Tony Award nominee Sherie Rene Scott, Tony Award winners Patti LuPone, Laura Benanti and Brian Stokes Mitchell. Also featured are Tony nominees de'Adre Aziza, Mary Beth Peil and Danny Burstein, as well as Justin Guarini and Nikka Graff Lanzarone.

Upcoming Platform events will focus on John Guare's A Free Man of Color Nov. 10 at 6 PM. LCT will welcome Tony winners Guare (The House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation) and Free Man of Color director George C. Wolfe (Angels in America; Caroline, or Change), who will speak about the new play that captures the freewheeling life of a Don Juan-like character in 1801 New Orleans.

Additional Platform events will feature the casts of Women on the Verge (Dec. 2 at 5:30 PM) and Free Man of Color (Dec. 9 at 6 PM). All Platform Series events take place in the lobby of the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
