News LCT to Present Reading of New Musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown A reading of a new musical based on the Pedro Almodóvar film "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" will be presented by Lincoln Center Theater next month, according to The New York Times.

Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher will direct the reading. The new musical was penned by David Yazbeck (score) and Jeffrey Lane (book). That same duo also collaborated on Broadway's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Casting for the reading is underway.

Sher told the Times that the upcoming workshop "would be a great opportunity to work with Pedro and draw on his sensibility for certain parts of the story."

"Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" featured a screenplay and direction by Pedro Almodóvar. The cast included Carmen Maura, Antonio Banderas, Julieta Serrano, María Barranco, Rossy de Palma, Kiti Manver, Guillermo Montesinos and Chus Lampreave.
