The revival of the musical by Mary Rodgers, Marshall Barer, Jay Thompson and Dean Fuller is slated for a Dec. 8, 2004-Jan. 2, 2005 run.

"I'm a little long in the tooth for Fred, so I have to go out of town for that," DeLaria joked with Playbill On-Line.

DeLaria was last seen on the Broadway stage in The Rocky Horror Show. Her other credits include Little Fish, On The Town, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Li'l Abner, The Vagina Monologues and the national tour of Chicago. The actress, known for her portrayals of off-kilter, often butchy roles, recently made an appearance on the NBC comedy, "Will & Grace."

Once Upon a Mattress retells the story of "The Princess and the Pea" using music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and a book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Barer. The original 1959 Broadway staging starred Carol Burnett as the sleepless princess Winnifred. A revival starring Sarah Jessica Parker in the lead role played on Broadway in 1996.

The new season is also expected to include Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Cabaret Girl, Can-Can, Hooray for What, Carmelina and The Boys from Syracuse. No dates or venues have yet been announced.
