News Lea DeLaria Will Be Part of Can't Prove It On Me Benefit July 9 Can't Prove It On Me is the title of an upcoming benefit for both the Fresh Fruit Festival and the Jazz Foundation of America's Fund for New Orleans' Musicians.

The July 9 concert at Joe's Pub, which will celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender jazz greats, will begin at 9:30 PM. Rome Neal will host the evening, which will feature the talents of Lea DeLaria and Fred Hersch as well as ButtaFlySoul, Tulivu Donna-Cumberbach, Carol Randazzo, pianist Courtney Bryan, tap dancer Laraine Goodman and the All Ladies' Band: Linda Oh (bass), Bernice Brooks (drums) and Debra Kreisberg (saxophone, clarinet). The concert, which will feature music, spoken word, video and dance, will pay tribute to such artists as Billy Strayhorn, Bessie Smith, "Ma" Rainey, Billy Tipton and Sun Ra, among others.

Lea DeLaria received an Obie and a Theater World Award for her work in the Public Theater's revival of On the Town. She also starred in the Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show and the City Center Encores! presentation of Li'l Abner. Her other theatrical credits include Cinderella, Little Fish, Chicago, The Boys From Syracuse, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told and As You Like It. An acclaimed stand up comic, DeLaria is also an accomplished jazz singer, and her solo recordings include "Play It Cool" and "Double Standards."

Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street. VIP tickets, priced $65, include a post-show reception. General admission tickets, priced $25, also require a $12 food-drink minimum. Call (212) 967-7555 for reservations.
