As reported earlier, Lea Thompson concludes her run as Sally Bowles in the Cabaret tour effective July 9, in Denver. Thompson will then assume the Bowles role on Broadway in the Roundabout revival of Cabaret at Studio 54 on Aug. 1.
Cabaret features a book by Joe Masteroff, with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Helmed on Broadway by Academy Award winning director Sam Mendes ("American Beauty"), the show was co- directed/choreographed by Rob Marshall (ABC TV's recent broadcast and home-video release of Annie ). The Roundabout Theatre Company revival garnered 30 major award nominations and four Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.
