News Legendary Pictures Acquires Rights to Lombardi for Feature Film Based on Green Bay Packers Coach Legendary Pictures will develop a film based on the life of Green Bay Packers head coach Vince Lombardi and has assembled a rights package with the Lombardi estate, Eric Simonson's Broadway play #Lombardi and the book by David Marannis, "When Pride Still Mattered," on which the play was based, according to Deadline.com.

J.C. Chandor ("Margin Call") is slated to write and direct the feature film, about the coaching legend who led the Packers to five NFL championships and the first two Super Bowl titles.

Legendary will produce the film with Mary Parent. Tony Ponturo and Fran Kirmser, the producers behind the Broadway play, will be executive producers on the film.

Lombardi, which opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre in October 2010, starred Dan Lauria, Keith Nobbs and Judith Light, who was Tony-nominated for her performance.
