Featured in the inaugural webisodes are Stephen Sondheim, Angela Lansbury, Stephen Schwartz, Joel Grey, Harold Prince, Maury Yeston, Richard Maltby Jr., David Shire, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

The "Legends of Broadway" videos, produced by the Masterworks Broadway team with director Glen Hoffman and Slam Media Group, began filming in fall 2010.

The series, according to press notes, "brings a new dimension to Masterworks Broadway's commitment to explore the history of its unparalleled catalog of musical theatre recordings–in fact, the history of the Broadway musical itself. The format allows legendary figures to reminisce freely about their careers and experiences on Broadway, bringing fresh, first-hand insights to the stories behind the musicals they helped create."

In the upcoming webisodes Sondheim talks West Side Story; Ahrens and Flaherty describe writing "Your Daddy’s Son"; Lansbury comments on two contrasting composer-lyricists, Jerry Herman and Sondheim; Maltby Jr. discusses Ain't Misbehavin'; Grey recounts how he almost lost the role of the Master of Ceremonies in the film of "Cabaret"; Yeston talks about Liliane Montevecchi's Tony-winning turn with "Folies Bergère" in Nine; and Schwartz reminisces about the San Francisco tryouts of Wicked.
