News Len Cariou and Sarah Rice to Sing Sondheim Unplugged July 25 Broadway's original Sweeney Todd Len Cariou will join Sarah Rice for the July 25 installment of Sondheim Unplugged at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

Cariou, who earned a Tony Award for originating the title role in Sweeney Todd and starred as Frederik in the original production of A Little Night Music, will headline the 7 PM performance, which marks the one-year anniversary of the concert series.

Joining Cariou is fellow original Sweeney Todd cast member Rice, who played Johanna. Matt Castle, who was part of the 2006 Broadway revival of Company, will serve as musical director.

Also appearing July 25 will be Kristy Cates (Wicked), Tony nominee Stephanie D’Abruzzo (Avenue Q), Eric Michael Gillett (The Frogs, Kiss Me, Kate), Trent Armand Kendall (Into the Woods), Lucia Spina (Legally Blonde, Spelling Bee), Jessica Vosk (NY Philharmonic Company), Stephen Wallem ("Nurse Jackie"), Lisa Asher, Harris Doran, Natalie Douglas, Larry Hamilton, Rob Maitner and Julie Reyburn. Phil Geoffrey Bond will host.

Sondheim Unplugged launched at the Beechman last summer and features an array of cabaret and theatre performers, as well as special guest stars who appeared in the original cast or revivals of Sondheim's musicals. The performers are accompanied solely by piano.
