Evens told Playbill.com that he will play the Emcee — the role created on stage and later preserved on screen by Joel Grey — at the Colorado venue. Performance dates are March 22-April 17.

Leo Ash Evens was seen Off-Broadway in Wanda's World and Yank and in the Ravinia Festival production of Gypsy (starring Patti LuPone) as Tulsa. He has toured in productions of 42nd Street, On the Record and West Side Story, and his NYMF credits include Harmony, I Prefer to Dream, But I'm a Cheerleader, Going Down Swingin and The Taxi Cabaret. Among Evens' regional credits are Oklahoma!, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Footloose.

Cabaret, which is based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood, concerns a down-on-her-luck nightclub singer (Sally Bowles) in pre-World War II Berlin and her relationship with a visiting writer (Clifford Bradshaw). The musical features a book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The original Broadway production was directed by Harold Prince. The 1998 revival starred the late Natasha Richardson and Alan Cumming, who won Tony Awards for their performances as, respectively, Sally Bowles and the Emcee. A 1972 film version of "Cabaret," directed by Bob Fosse, was awarded eight Academy Awards. In addition to Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey, who both won Oscars for their performances, the movie also featured Michael York, Marisa Berenson and Fritz Wepper.

Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is located at 6901 Wadsworth Blvd. in Arvada, CO. For tickets call (720) 898-7200.
