Les Liasons Dangereuses, or "Dangerous Liasons" as the popular film version was known, completes its web of deceit and sexual intrigue April 22 at Pasadena Playhouse. Sheldon Epps directs James Sutorius and Lynnda Ferguson in Christopher Hampton's adaptation of the book by Choderios de Laclos, which opened March 18 for a six-week run.

The play—which is set in 1780s France—was the basis for the Oscar- winning film, "Dangerous Liasons," starring Glenn Close, John Malkovich and Michelle Pfeiffer. Hampton focuses on Le Vicomte de Valmont, a master of love and desire, who is eager to seduce both the young and willing Cecile and the passionate yet demure Mme. de Tourvel. Valmont's former mistress encourages him for her own personal reasons, matching his gamesmanship with heartbreaking perfection.

Epps, the artistic director of the Pasadena Playhouse, is the creative force behind the acclaimed musicals Blues in the Night and Play On!. His cast for Liasons also includes Ivar Brogger, Channing Chase, Drew Ebersole, Magda Harout, Moinette Magrath, Gemma Massot and Abigail Revasch.

Epps' creative team includes John Iacovelli (sets), Michael Gilliam (lights), Jean-Pierre Dorleac (costumes) and Stafford M. Floyd (sound).
