Lesli Margherita, co-star of Broadway’s Matilda The Musical and Dames at Sea, will sing the role of Aldonza/Dulcinea in July 12 concert performances of the long-running Broadway musical Man of La Mancha.

Directed by Scott Siegel, the concert will star William Michals (South Pacific, Bright Star) as Don Quixote de La Mancha, Bob Stillman (two-time Tony nominee for Dirty Blonde and Urban Cowboy) as The Padre, and Anthony Santelmo Jr. as Sancho Panza.

Margherita played the role previously in a 2012 production at Musical Theatre West in Long Beach, California.

Siegel told Playbill, “Man of La Mancha was the musical that made me love musicals. I saw it when I was on a junior high school field trip when the show was still in a tent downtown. I’ll never forget the impact. It’s a great joy and privilege for me to be able to present the show in concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below; I feel like I'll be able to give something back for all that the show has given to me.”

Siegel said, What’s particularly intriguing about this concert version is that the arrangement we’ve made calls for us to present the music not in the order of the show. Clearly, the intention is to make it clear that this is not a production of the musical but a concert of the show’s songs. Therefore, we will obviously honor that request while also making sure to give context—with myself as the host/narrator— for each of the songs so that the audience knows the purpose and meaning of each number that we present. I'll also, by way of introduction, provide some remarks about the history of the show.”

The 1965 Mitch Leigh-Joe Darion-Dale Wasserman musical, based on Miguel de Cervantes’s novel Don Quixote, won the 1966 Tony Award as Best Musical, ran for 2,238 performances in its original Broadway production, toured extensively, and has been revived on Broadway four times, most recently in 2002 with Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Ernie Sabella.

Man of La Mancha in Concert will be performed twice, at 7 and 9:30 PM, July 12, at Feinstein’s/54 Below, 254 West 54th Street in Manhattan. Tickets cost $35–$80 plus a $25 food/beverage minimum. Click here to order tickets.
