One of the many symposia and special events offered at this season's Lincoln Center Festival is a conversation with Pacific Overtures creators Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman.

Sondheim and Weidman, who penned, respectively, the score and the book for the 1976 musical, will discuss their award-winning work at 6 PM on July 10 at the LaGuardia Drama Theater. The conversation with the Pacific Overtures creators is in conjunction with the Festival's presentation of the musical, which is currently running at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall through July 13. Directed by Japan's leading musical theatre director, Amon Miyamoto, the production of Pacific Overtures — which is being presented in Japanese with English surtitles — originated at the New National Theatre in Tokyo.

Other symposia being offered at this year's Festival include "Ta'ziyeh: An Introduction" (July 16), "The Kirov Ballet: The Re creation of La Bayadère" (July 10), " "Ta'ziyeh: Performing Iran's Living Epic Tradition" (July 13), "Breaking Taboos: Women Artists in the Middle East" (July 15), "The Silver River: The Making of The Silver River" (July 19), "Weaving Ancient Culture with the Modern Stage" (July 20), "Pre-Concert Talk: The Music of Guo Wenjing and Bright Sheng" (July 22), "Merce Cunningham: Dance on Film" (July 25).

Festival symposia will be held at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse (Lincoln Center's Rose Building, 165 W. 65th Street, 10th floor) or at the LaGuardia Drama Theater (LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, West 65th Street and Amsterdam Avenue). Symposia passes are required and will be distributed an hour-and-a-half prior to the symposium at Window 6 of the Avery Fisher Hall box office. Passes will be distributed on a first-come, first serve basis and will be limited to one per person.
