Classic Arts News Lincoln Center to Stage Gay Pride Events in June Lincoln Center will present a series of events as part of New York's gay pride week in June, the center announced.
The events will include a reading and discussion of gay and lesbian literature; a special edition of Midsummer Night Swing, the center's outdoor dance party; and an evening of Broadway, cabaret, pop, rock, jazz, opera, and dance at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall.

The Rose Hall event, scheduled for June 23, will be hosted by actor and playwright Charles Busch and will feature appearances by opera singers Angela M. Brown, Patricia Racette, and Beth Clayton; violinist Leila Josefowicz; jazz musicians Fred Hersch and Andy Bey; and the dance troupe STREB. Also scheduled to appear are Broadway's Billy Porter, Donna Murphy, and Kristin Chenoweth; cabaret star Barbara Cook; and pop singers Patti LaBelle and Cyndi Lauper.

"Lincoln Center has long been a place where diversity flourishes‹in the genres, range of performances, and artists we present," Lincoln Center president Reynold Levy said in a statement. "In the past few years, we have been active in taking steps to make all people feel more at home at Lincoln Center. We want to assume a leadership role in welcoming patrons drawn from the gay and lesbian communities to our campus."
