Lion King director Julie Taymor, who receives a Japan Musical Award on Nov. 4 at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City, will share her honorarium with the Eos Orchestra, Playbill On-Line has learned.

Taymor is being feted for her "outstanding achievements on Broadway and the development and growth of the Japanese musical industry."

Her award package comprises a silver Tiffany bowl and a $10,000 honorarium, half of which is customarily presented to a nonprofit organization of the recipient's choice, the JMA said.

Established in 1995, the Eos Orchestra's main activity is its annual subscription series which involves concerts at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall and the New York Society for Ethical Culture. Eos founder and artistic director Jonathan Sheffer conducts the 65-member ensemble.

The Japanese Musical Awards are determined by a jury of 11 Japanese theatre critics and professionals.
