News Live Tour of Disney's "Frozen" to Launch This Fall The Academy Award-winning Disney film "Frozen," which is in development as a live stage musical, will first take to the road this fall as part of Disney on Ice, according to the New York Times.

A cast of 39 performers will be employed for the touring production that will launch in September in Orlando, FL. The production, which will require nine tractor trailers to tour, will utilize 20 snow machines to create the giant blizzard central to the story.

Patty Vincent will direct the Disney on Ice version of "Frozen," which is being developed along with members of the film's creative team. Vincent told the Times, "Their input has been extraordinarily helpful as we try to exceed the very high fan expectations. They helped us with Elsa’s style of movement — balletic, vertical — and how it differs from Anna, who is more playful and horizontal."

"Frozen" is the highest-grossing animated film of all time. It is also the first billion-dollar film for Walt Disney Animation Studios and its first film to receive the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

It remained in the top ten films at the domestic box office for 16 consecutive weeks, the longest run by any film since 2002.

On the same day it won two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (Robert and Kristen-Anderson Lopez for "Let It Go"), "Frozen," Walt Disney Animation Studios' 53rd feature film, crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office.
